Job title: Shift Manager, Team Leader, Operations Supervisor or Warehouse Coordinator

Across all Logistics, Warehouse and Distribution operations you will find strong junior/middle management supporting more senior members of staff (Warehouse or Operations Manager). In order to run an efficient and profitable operation the junior and middle management must have the ability to run day to day responsibilities and carry out business strategy.

This is perfect for Military personnel and can be carried out by a huge range of skill sets obtained across Logistics and Supply Chain. In essence, it needs managers and leaders that are able to deliver direction, motivation and targets to all warehouse and distribution staff.

Responsibilities

  • Brief the warehouse team at regular intervals, to actively support and encourage team work throughout the workplace
  • Understand the quality requirements of the contract and ensure staff are trained accordingly
  • Have an understanding of all roles and functions of the warehouse and offer support, leadership and problem solving advice
  • Maximize profit and minimize cost paying particular attention to planned and used hours
  • Ensure that any query or complaint is investigated and dealt with accordingly
  • Monitor product returns and warehouse damages to ensure targets are met
  • Carry out any reasonable requests as determined by Senior Management
  • Make sure that the KPI results are to agreed targets and/or plans are in place to achieve set targets and follow SOP’s
  • To ensure daily H&S/Housekeeping checks are completed and hit company standards
  • Liaise with all other management levels and make sure job responsibilities are adhered to
  • Make sure Inventory routines are maintained, managing all stock holding areas to ensure they are tidy and organised
  • To carry out any reasonable requests as determined by Senior Management
  • Identify members of staff that require training and arrange for the training to be carried out alongside the HR team, in accordance with the Company Procedure, gaining the appropriate authorisation
  • Ensure Supervisors are sufficiently trained to deal with any operational issue
  • Developing strong relationships with Customer Services, Clients, Service Agents, Managers, HR and Employment agencies

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Warehouse Activities/Systems with strong man management
  • Excellent communicator at all levels, able to plan effectively to meet deadlines
  • Uses initiative and judgement effectively to make quick correct decisions
  • Strategic thinker both short and long term, prioritising projects accordingly
  • Willingness to train and learn new skills with the ambition to move upwards

Qualifications

The ability to lead and manage Warehouse, Distribution and Logistics operations will come as standard for Military personnel so having worked in these areas is a must, along with;

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Logistics, Business or Management
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a warehouse or similar environment
  • Educated to a O’Level or GCSE level standard or above
  • Understanding of H&S and Fire safety
